WHEN EVERYTHING GOES WRONG

As a Christian what should we do when our world falls apart?  When the things we hold dear fail us.  We have or will have things go wrong, terribly wrong.  We live in a fallen world and eventually things will happen.  The good news is that our Heavenly Father has not left us on our own to deal with our situation the best way we can.

Hebrews 4:16 says "Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”  Satan will always try to convince us that we should do just about anything but come to God.  If we really mess up and sin when we know we shouldn't have, we seem to be afraid to go to God.  As if He didn't already know what we have done.  No we should come “boldly to the throne of grace.”  Romans chapter 6 explains to us that we are dead to sin, but alive to God.  It goes on to tell us how to overcome sin in our life.  Don't run away but come boldly to Jesus the Word and He will lovingly guide us to total victory over sin.

Let us backup for just a moment and share one of the greatest truths in the whole Bible.  Long before the catastrophe happened we should have filled our heart with God's unfailing Word.  Father God has the answer to any problem that can come into our life already answered in the pages of His Word.  These promises are from Almighty God and are for us, but we have to know these promises, do what the Bible says to do to receive these promises and meditate on these promises until we have an absolute trust in the fact that God will meet the need just as He said in the Bible.  If we don't already know the promise and have it firmly embedded in our heart before the problem comes, it can be too late to receive the answer, depending on the circumstances of the problem, not because God doesn't want you to have it' but our faith level is too low to receive.  One of the reasons for the nine gifts of the Spirit as recorded in 1Corinthians chapter 11 is to meet our need in emergency situations.  However you have to be in a church that has these gifts in operation to have much chance of receiving.  So it behooves us to fill our heart with God's word and build up our own faith now not later.

Let's look at a couple of examples in the Word of people whose world fell apart, but they handled it right and received the victory.  The first one we will look at is found in Second Kings chapter 4.  It is the story of the Shunamitte woman.  This is the story of a very Godly women who with the agreement of her husband built a room onto their house for Elisha, Gods prophet, to stay in when he traveled through their area.  She hadn't had any children and her husband was getting old so Elisha spoke a blessing on her and she had a child a year later.  A few years later her son got sick and died in just a few hours.  She immediately went to Elisha (a type of the Word of God) and told him she would not leave him until her son was raised from the dead.  She would not turn loose of the truth of God’s Word.  All through this whole episode any time someone ask her what was going on she would only say “all is well”.  Please read this scripture and meditate on the great truths found there.

Next let’s look at Acts 16:16-40.  Paul and Silas were preaching the Gospel throughout the land and many were born again, healed and delivered from all kinds of problems.  Then they were brought before the magistrates lied about and thrown into prison.  Now the prisons of that day were a little different than they are in our day.  First they were stripped and beaten severely.  Then they were put in the inner cell with their feet in the stocks.  Now picture this, beaten severely, (bruised and bleeding), sitting on the floor with your feet in stocks, rats running all around, and in the inner cell there would have been no light.  What did Paul and Silas do in this situation, they drew on the Word that had been planted in their heart.  They were so full of the Word that they actually were praying and singing hymns unto God.  What happened then, the prison doors flew open, and even the jailer and his family was saved. Read the whole story.

So how should we prepare for the bad situations that may come our way? Spend much time in the Word each day.  Pray and worship the Father daily, thanking Him for all the blessings we have.  Remember it is the Fathers will for us to bear much fruit.  This is how we glorify Him.  “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.  By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be my disciples.” John 15:7-8.

The Grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and His Word be with you.
