I am one to believe we should gain knowledge and wisdom in this life. We should prepare ourselves to work and make enough money to take care of our family without leaning on society to give us welfare, unless there are extenuating circumstances beyond our control. We should also prepare ourselves emotionally and spiritually to interact successfully with our family and with those around us. That being said, there are things we will be presented with in this life that we don't need to know about and indeed should run from at a high rate of speed. I have been told many times throughout my life(I am 71 at this writing), that I was naive and just didn't know what was going on in the “real world”. I plead guilty to the charge. In fact I wish I was even guiltier than I am. No I don't want to know what is going on in the “real world.” 1 John 2:15 says” Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” We as born again Christians should not be unduly involved in the “world system.”  Let's see where this all started. “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1 (Please carefully and prayerfully study Genesis chapters 1-3). The bible says “Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good.”  Genesis 1:31a. When God created the earth it was perfect. Everything in it functioned perfectly. There was no death, pain or suffering. There was no devastating storms, no poverty, as He said “it was very good.” At that time Father God had already turned the management of the earth over to mankind, this worked wonderfully because man was in perfect communion with God, and trusted completely in God's wisdom. Therefore because of this oneness with our Heavenly Father at this time, all things on earth was functionally perfectly. It was always The Father's will to have planet earth completely

Controlled by mankind, and to be a perfect place for His children. It will again be that way in the future, but that is another teaching.  The next step after God created earth for His children was to give Adam the choice between good and evil, life or death. He planted two special trees in the garden among the other trees. If Adam had chosen the tree of life, he would have lived forever in the state he was in, taking care of God's marvelous creation, and fellow shipping with almighty God on a daily basis. The angels had also been given the choice to follow God or rebel against Him and strike out on their own. Satan, (Lucifer) chose to rebel, for he pictured himself above God, even though God is the one that gave him his beauty. Isaiah 14:12-15., Ezekiel 28:12-19. One third of the angels followed Satan in the rebellion.  What was the great temptation for Adam to rebel and eat from the forbidden tree? He had been warned about what would happen. The bible tells us he understood the consequences of his actions.    (1 Timothy 2:14) Don't eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. What could be wrong with that? Don't we need to know “the knowledge of good and evil” so we can choose well? All we need is the knowledge of the life of God. We do not need to know any knowledge of evil. Of course we live in a fallen world now, so we are going to come into contact with the knowledge of evil often, but we need to minimize it as much as possible. Our goal is to live under the “new covenant” not by the dictates of this present world.  However I believe the real reason Adam and Eve were so tempted was a desire to be on the same level as God. Satan and one third of the other angels were kicked out of heaven because he wanted to exalt himself above God. Also notice in Genesis 3:5 it says Satan told Adam and Eve they would be like God if they would just eat the forbidden fruit. Of course this was a lie, remember Satan is a liar and the father of lies. They should have rejected Satan and followed what God said. God told them, you have the choice, but He didn't want them to choose “the knowledge of good and evil” because it would bring the curse on the earth and with it sickness, poverty, bad relationships with others, killer storms, climate change, accidents and even the weeds in our garden. Every problem going on in the earth today was caused by the curse. Genesis 2:17. When God said in this verse “you will surely die,” this was telling Adam the curse will come and it will come at once. Every problem on planet earth falls under the heading of death (the curse).  Every situation we encounter falls under the heading of “you will surely die” (death) or “the tree of life’ (God's life). This could be compared to Romans 8:2.  Under the new covenant we have the ability to overcome any sin. Jesus did for us what we could not do for ourselves when He paid our sin debt at Calvary. That is all we really need to know.  May God bless and keep you.
